The truth is you’re not broken…

Posted on: July 25th, 2019 by Lynika Write A Comment

You’re not broken, you’re wounded and therein lies your key.

You’re not broken, you’re wounded and therein lies your key.

Being ‘broken’ is a sadly common phrase, too easily picked up and worn like a final statement.

The truth is you’re not broken. You’re wounded. And realising this makes for more self compassion, more recognition of the places that need healing.

And ultimately realising you’re wounded instead of broken, gives you the key to knowing what you need right now, right here, this moment and then the next.

Being wounded offers a trail instead of a dead end.

It offers hope instead of finality.

And most of all it offers validation for the things you have faced and are facing.

When something is ‘broken’ it’s no longer of use, it usually means discarding and finality.

When something is wounded, it warrants care and tending.

It invites understanding, support, hope and patience. Most importantly from yourself to yourself.

The key is in owning the wounded self, it’s in hearing what that self needs and where it needs it most.

In time the wound becomes the key that leads you out.

I see you.

Keep going.

You matter.

Forward we go,

Dr Lynika

Back Yourself 24/7

Posted on: May 17th, 2017 by Lynika Write A Comment

So don’t beat yourself up when you’re going through some of the less enjoyable bits…

Life is a medley.

No matter what you do there will be easier and not so easier times.

What matters is that you back yourself.

24/7 you have your human self to care for.

Treat that being with integrity and respect.

Your self care impacts the whole world for the greater good.

It makes you a whole being who by proxy gives permission and inspiration for others to do the same.

Take care of yourself and shine on my friend

You matter.

Don't quit on yourself half way. There's a light in you, protect it, champion it. It will sustain you as you find the corners that will lead you back out of the dark - Lynika

We are not our circumstances. We are the being that drives through, over, around or alongside them. Remember who and what you are and keep your foot on the gas pedal.

You’re the driver. You get to decide where to from here. You and you alone OWN your life and the right to live it out loud.

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race”

“Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.”

Life… it’s not a dress rehearsal..right?

We’re going to the actual, real ball every day, let’s wear our best and dance the dance WE want and have reasons to smile till our jaws ache.

YOU are here because you’re needed, wanted, loved.

~ Lynika ♥

p.s you also have some dandy fine dance moves all your own, let ’em fly! 🙂

At the end of the day

“At the end of the day we come home to ourselves.” – Lynika

So let’s be real shall we?

Let’s drop all the ‘What we should talk, dress, think, look, sound, behave, respond, write, decide, live like.”  And instead — Live like there’s actually already a tenant in the building.

Someone is home paying the rent, the bills, taking care of the property and all that responsible good stuff. Somebody called YOU. And YOU is doing just fine thank you very much.

We wouldn’t want anyone traipsing into our homes and telling us what to do, not unless they were invited to do so, like a nice Feng Shui person or kind Aunt with good taste. And – – only invited if they were nice and switched on and even then we wouldn’t have to listen or take the suggestions on board at the end of the day if it didn’t feel right.

How long do we wait in our lives to break out and be ourselves?

After we move house/state/country?

After we break up, make up, get married, divorced?

After we lose weight, gain weight, work out, join a group?

After next Monday, Wednesday, Weekend, Month, New Year?

No need to wait. No magic number or date, no right state of being, no right person to be with first.

Any day we choose, any moment at any time, we can choose to begin to be ourselves.

From this point on, authentic, genuine, ‘complete with very own virtues and vices,’ self.

We spend the most time with ourselves. Our friends, our family, they may all want to spend more time with us, but more than anyone else, we get to hang out with that person. We get to be with them all the time. It may as well be someone we value, someone we like, someone we feel lucky to be around, someone we listen to, someone who does things that makes them feel gooooooood.

When we get home or wake up or have a rough time, or a good time, we want to know there’s one person who will always be there, one person who’s proud of us and in our corner cheering us on no matter what.

So let’s begin shall we? Let’s begin to be the person we are. Let ‘er rip and to heck with anyone who thinks they could possibly know how to be a more authentic version of YOU.

This includes our writing, finding our own voice and letting it have a home in the world.

Another reason I love poetry, it calls to us.

The Journey – Mary Oliver

One day you finally knew

what you had to do, and began,

though the voices around you

kept shouting

their bad advice–

though the whole house

began to tremble

and you felt the old tug

at your ankles.

“Mend my life!”

each voice cried.

But you didn’t stop.

You knew what you had to do,

though the wind pried

with its stiff fingers

at the very foundations,

though their melancholy

was terrible.

It was already late

enough, and a wild night,

and the road full of fallen

branches and stones.

But little by little,

as you left their voices behind,

the stars began to burn

through the sheets of clouds,

and there was a new voice

which you slowly

recognized as your own,

that kept you company

as you strode deeper and deeper

into the world,

determined to do

the only thing you could do–

determined to save

the only life you could save.
